THE RELEVANCE OF HIS DEATH PART 3
(John 19:24) They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.
For the past two days, we have seen why Jesus wore a crown of thorns and His side was pierced. Today, we shall see why Jesus qualified to carry your sins. In the Old Testament, the High Priest had to offer many burnt offerings. As part of the offerings, he had to cast lots for two goats: one lot for the Lord and the other lot for the scapegoat (the goat that would be left to go without dying) (Leviticus 16).
Before Jesus went to the cross, the High Priest at that time, unknowingly cast lots; one for Jesus and the other for Barabbas. When he (the High Priest) and the people together agreed to make the lot fall on Jesus, He became the one chosen to carry all our sins to the cross. Barabbas in that instance became the scapegoat. Read Matthew 27:19-28 to know the full story. Jesus was the perfect sacrifice to take away sin. If you believe in Him, you are made free from sin for sin is more than an action. Today, bless the name of the Lord profusely in worship and prayer. Thank Him for His death for it was for your benefit. Halleluyah!
Confession: Jesus is the One who took away my sin. I am free from sin and the effects of sin. Jesus is my Lord and I thank Him for what He did for me. Halleluyah!
Say this if you have never been born again. I declare from today that Jesus Christ is my Lord and I believe that God raised Him from the dead.
Congratulations
You can begin to attract God’s goodness into your life from today.
