MY MOUTH SHALL NOT SIN
(Psalm 17:3) You have tested my heart; You have visited me in the night; You have tried me and have found nothing; I have purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.
Our scripture of meditation for today starts by saying “You have tested my heart”. David, who is the writer of this Psalms, said this to show that indeed God tested Him before elevating him to his next and higher level in his walk with God. He continued to say that “You have visited me in the night” which means God tested him in his period of adversity. The word translated ‘night’ in our theme scripture means ‘a period of hardship and adversity’. It is a period where you are in waiting. At that point people may even laugh at you and say funny things about you. It is like Abraham waiting for a promised child all those long years. Remember, David said this knowing how anointed he was. He had killed Goliath (1 Samuel 17:48-51).He had killed the lion and the bear (1 Samuel 17:34-37).
He had been anointed as king yet could not reign because there was a Saul who would not agree with the new move God was bringing in town. Due to this, he had to live in deserts and caves until the death of Saul (1 Samuel 24). It was during this period of trying times that he made the confession “I have purposed that my mouth shall not transgress”. David knew that his mouth was designed to proclaim the words of God, but at the same time, it could sin against God (Joshua 1:8). For this reason, he declared that his mouth shall not sin. Don’t sin with your mouth. Don’t speak the wrong thing for there is life and death in your tongue (Proverbs 18:21). Stay in prayer today and declare that your mouth shall not sin from today forward. Halleluyah!
Confession: My mouth is tamed to speak the right things only for there is life and death in my mouth. I have purposed that my mouth shall not transgress. Evil spirits cannot talk through me. My words are sanctified so they are heavenly. Halleluyah!
Say this if you have never been born again. I declare from today that Jesus Christ is my Lord and I believe that God raised Him from the dead.
Congratulations
You can begin to attract God’s goodness into your life from today.
